Matthew Ide

I was born into a Christian family and accepted Christ at an early age, however, living it out was merely giving the right answers and completing weekly mental checklists of faith without the heart. Most of this is detailed in my book that I call “a guide of what not to do” titled, A Legend…In My Own Mind (available at Amazon).

I have been involved with music since my mother forced me to sing with her on stage in church when I was 5, and have been harmonizing since age 7. I have been in a cappella groups, vocal ensembles, musicals, played trumpet, and have been writing songs since age 13.

For 7 years in upstate NY I was in a southern gospel trio, The Helmsmen, which became part of the Chapel Valley family of recording artists. I was also a runner up in the 2016 Singing News Songwriters Search (featured story in Singing News, March 2017) for a song I wrote titled, “His Blood.”

My 3 biggest musical influences are The Beach Boys, Hootie & The Blowfish, and Newsboys…and I listen to just about everything around and in-between!

I am a graduate of both Practical Bible College (Davis College) [AAS in Biblical Studies], and Luther Rice College & Seminary [BARM]. I am a Bible nerd, and am currently writing a commentary on the book of Jonah; stay tuned!

I enjoy spending time with my family as well as working out, reading, writing, recording, songwriting, serving on the church worship and marriage ministries, and eating desserts.
